Theme: Jesus calls the twelve
disciples
Goal: Children will learn that Jesus
called ordinary people to follow him. We can follow Jesus
today.
Objectives and Life
Application:
- Children will recognize
that Jesus asked friends to help him spread the news of
God's love.
- Children will become
familiar with the story of how Jesus called his
disciples.
- Children will identify
the four closest disciples to Jesus.
- Children will recognize
that Jesus called twelve disciples to be his closest
followers.

that many other people also followed Jesus.

Art
Children will create a
sandcast/plaster paperweight with a fish design.
Sunday Morning
Live
Older children will create
a TV newscast with "live interviews" of the disciples.
Younger children will create a piggyback song describing
the calling of the disciples.

Theatre
Younger children will view
a video showing Jesus calling his disciples. Older
children will view the videotape of the 5th-6th graders'
newscast from SML.
Bible Quest
Children will examine the
various scripture references and play several games to
reinforce the message of being a modern-day
disciple.
Solid Rock
Cafe
Children will make "Good
Fortune" Cookies. They will use a concordance to look up
scriptures about love, kindness and joy and write these
down to insert into the cookies.
CyberSpace
Older children will
research the twelve disciples and write characteristics
of them on large butcher paper cutouts. Younger children
will create bookmarks with the Bible memory verse and
other appropriate clip art.
